Reflections from a Toddler on Meal-time

Caution: Eat before reading this or you might not want to!
You're hungry, but you won't eat anything Grandma gives you--not even avocado!  You keep pointing to the plate and fussing.  Duh, Grandma, it's about the spoon!
Food tastes much better when you put it in your own mouth!
You can do lots of things with a spoon!
You can even make Grandma laugh with a spoon!
Six Simple Steps for Spoon-feeding Self:
Step 1, Grandma loads the spoon with pureed black beans (they stick nicely and don't fall off on the way to your mouth).
Step 2, pick up the black beans with your fingers because that way, for sure, they won't fall off on the way to your mouth.  Also, it's cute and it makes Grandma laugh!
Step 3, cram the beans into your mouth.  That way they really can't fall out of your mouth!  Also, it's cute and it makes Grandma laugh!
Step 4, suck on your fingers because black beans are "finger lickin' good!"  Also, it's cute and it makes Grandma laugh!
Step 5, pick up the spoon and suck off any black beans that didn't already make it into your mouth.  They're good to the last glop!  Also, it's cute and it makes Grandma laugh!
Step 6, cram the spoon into your mouth with both hands.  That way no black beans can fall out of your mouth.  Also, it's cute and it makes Grandma laugh!
Note to self:  Asparagus is stringy.  Yuck!  There are two ways to get asparagus out of your mouth--you can try to pull the strings out . . .
. . . but it's kind of hard to get them all.  Or you can just rub 'em out!
When you're done eating, Grandma will definitely go after you with a washcloth!  Why do grown-ups have to ruin the end of every good meal?  It's like, the better the meal and the more you enjoyed it, the more they have to ruin it!

  2. Oh, yeah! Once I got that she wanted the spoon to feed herself with, she really packed it in! If only all her future problems in life would be that easy to solve! :)
