Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk
(Mmm)She says I began to sing long before I could talk
And I've often wondered, how did it all start
Who found out that nothing can capture a heart
Like a melody can
Well, whoever it was, I'm a fan
So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs I'm singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me
I've been so lucky, I am the girl with golden hair
I wanna sing it out to everybody
What a joy, what a life, what a chance!
It's her song, what more can I say?
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
Rivers and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside—
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown—
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
Robert Louis Stevenson
Babysitting has never looked like so much fun! I always recited that song to my kids, too. Another of my favorites is "My Shadow. Love, Barbara
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, "I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me . . ." I'll have to re-learn that one so I can recite it to Charis--when we get some sun! Clouds and rain predicted all week, but I can't complain because we really need the rain now!
ReplyDeletethis is SO cute!!! you'll have to see my new profile pic on facebook ;-) thx for sharing!
