For the past several years, Herb has been busy embarking on his fifth career. He's been a pastor, a missionary, a seminary professor (along with more pastoring) and a middle school teacher. Two and a half years ago he enrolled at Richmont Graduate University in the Professional Counseling program.
I could say that the past couple years have gone by in a blur, although at times it seemed to both of us more as if they were dragging on forever! Especially after he started his counseling internship almost a year ago on top of a full-time course load, we both wondered at times if we were going to make it.
Nevertheless, all good things must come to an end, and on May 10 Herb graduated with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. He was required to have 700 internship hours, and he graduated with 703! Whew!
If Richmont paid attention to such things, Herb would have graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 grade point average! That just goes to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks!
What was even more meaningful to Herb was that during the process of referring his clients to in-coming interns, one of his clients asked for permission to follow him wherever he ends up working. That incident was just one more indication to me that Herb is doing exactly what he should be doing and that all the sacrifices of the past two and a half years were worthwhile!
That's Herb on the left, of course, and that's me on the right exclaiming, "Honey-Do List, here we come!" Stay tuned for new developments on the farm as Herb takes a few weeks "off" to do some much-needed projects that have piled up, waiting for this very day!
