Aunt Jenny's and Charis' Beautiful Day at Zephyr Hill Farm (Thursday, Mar. 3)

Aunt Jenny thought that puppies and little girls made an unbeatable combination, so she picked up Charis and brought her to the farm for the day so Charis could play with Tai.  But Aunt Jenny had so much more planned for this beautiful, spring day . . .

First, they baked banana bread together.
Charis measured the mashed bananas so carefully.
She stirred . . .
. . . greased the pan . . .
. . . stirred some more . . .
. . . and carefully spooned the batter into the pan.
She even decorated the top of the batter with little swirls . . .
. . . then found the perfect solution for the batter that stuck to her finger!
Unfortunately, when the banana bread came out of the oven, it burned the hand that made it.  :(
In the afternoon, Charis played in the sandbox while Aunt Jenny played with her camera!
Charis took time to smell the flowers . . .
. . . and to bring spring color where it was missing!  (I love the originality of her mind!)
"Uh-oh!"  Aunt Jenny and Tai helped Charis removed little pieces of grass from her socks.
Then Charis just sat and contemplated the view.  (Did I say that I love the way her mind works?)
I also love the way Jenny's photographic eye captured this mystical image of a little girl's world with a puppy by her side.  This photograph reminds me of Andrew Wyeth's painting, "Christina's World."  It has been described as "mystic realism," and I think that describes this photo perfectly.
Who knows what Tai and Charis were saying to each other, but they obviously spoke the same language!
At the end of the day, there was banana bread waiting to be devoured by its deserving baker.  What a perfect end to a perfect day!
