Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road? (Tuesday, Nov. 23)

I know this picture is blurry, but I like it that way.  I like how the brown chicken in the middle of the road stands out.

So why DID the chicken cross the road?  To get away from Hero?
To join her friends who were grazing on the brow of the hill?
To hurry "home" to the warmth of the chicken tractor where one aesthetically-minded rooster was enjoying the view from the roof?
Or did she just want to enjoy the beautiful view herself and meditate on the mist in the valley?

Whatever her reason--and she's not telling--she was happily going about her own business, when and where she wanted.  That's what free-range chickens do!

  1. Hard to believe this is the chicken's last night...adieu, feathered friends. I look forward to meeting you face to face one day, you in the pot, me in the seat, holding my spoon :-)

  2. Jenny, you are hysterical! It was kind of sad, though, and I do miss the funny things. I miss the whole flock of them running to greet us, thinking we had food!

But Wren crowed for the first time this morning, so I think he doesn't miss the other roosters at all!
