It's Good to Be Home

There's no leisure to get over jet lag when you come home to a farm.  Animals want to be fed on time whether you want to sleep late or not!  Rain and chilly weather and turning leaves remind us that fall is marching toward winter and there's a lot to catch up on after being gone.

With Jim and Monique's vacation before ours, it had been almost a month since we saw them and the kids.  So it was a joy to find Charis and Kol as excited to see us as we were to see them.  Being a busy boy, Kol has gone from creeping to speed-crawling!

While Monique and Kol went to a prayer conference, we enjoyed a morning with Jim and Charis at Rock City's Enchanted Corn Maze.  Charis was wearing what she calls her "warm, cozy vest for outside from Didi and Mimi," a souvenir from Marks and Spencers.

The vest came off later as the day warmed up--and Charis warmed up to the bouncy slide.  Even Mimi got into the act while Didi took pictures, but I'm leaving those to your imagination!

It was such a joy to see Katie and Cameron and to visit Jim and Laura Pettit.  We are very grateful to Jean-Marc for doing chores for 2 weeks so we could go.  But we are also happy to come Home to our farm and our lives here.  Even returning to the routine of chores is restful in its own way.  And there's nothing so beautiful and peaceful as the sun setting over our own pastures as we come in from evening chores.  It's a sight that breathes "Welcome Home!" into the very soul.
