Happy Birthday, Pastor Cal!

A good part of today was spent refining our skit for Pastor Cal's 60th birthday party at church tonight--and collecting all our props.  The skit was a parody of putting on the armor of God in Ephesians, except we got Cal dressed up in "Farmer Armor."
Since we were also celebrating his and Susan's 20th anniversary at St. Elmo, it seemed right to bring her into the act as his helpmeet to help him handle all his implements so he could have his hands free to hold the chicken!  Zephyr and Gypsy both played their parts to perfection!  Cal said he'd never held a chicken before (I say, what a waste of 60 years!), but he did it like a pro.  Gypsy was so content she started her little humming sound!  After bringing in a dog and chicken, we said we were bringing in a cow, and Herb did an amazing job sounding like a bellowing cow escaping outside!  Several people thought we were actually going to bring a cow into the fellowhip hall.  I think the only thing that proves is that they believe us capable of almost anything!

So a good time was had by all, the kids most of all, as the animals were a big hit afterwards and came in for a lot of petting and attention.
