We had a great 4th of July celebration with Kara doing the all-American (or at least all-Southern American) dinner, fireworks, and a movie. Kara took us to the Wilderness Outdoor Theater in Trenton, GA--the largest drive-in theater in the world! We ate delicious hamburgers, then sat and read till it was time for the fireworks.
With "The Star Spangled Banner" and other patriotic tunes playing over the radio in our new truck, we settled back to enjoy the show (and for me, enjoying trying to catch it on my new camera!)
You will KNOW I'm crazy when I tell you that I saw most of the fireworks as a black image in my viewfinder! Because of the low light, every time I snapped the shutter, it stayed closed until there was enough light captured for it to finish taking the picture and open up again!
I was trying to stay reallllly still to get the best shots, so I didn't dare move my head to look around my viewfinder.
I finally did come up with a system of holding the camera where I could see through the viewfinder and around it at the same time, so I did see some of the show. But hey, what! I had fun, and wasn't that the whole point?
And just in case you're curious about what movie we saw, here's a hint! At least we didn't have to put up with pervy middle-aged women screaming every time Jacob appeared bare-chested (like they did in the theater!) Even if the cigarette smoke from our neighbors chain-smoking for three hours did make me nauseous, it was nothing compared to those shrieking women!
All in all, a very fun Fourth! And forgive me for saying, I think I've been bitten by the drive-in bug!
